Looking Forward to Blues Skies . . . and Shirts

Spring’s promise of brighter skies is reflected in this capsule collection of new menswear.
Toronto-based shirt maker, & Sons, considers developing their own fabrics as an essential component of design. Their easy-to-wear shirts bring a distinctive style that both elevates and complements a man’s wardrobe. We love & Sons hand-printed woodblock pattern in subdued shades of taupe and blue.

& Sons subtle blue-on-blue floral shirt in 100% Tencel,
a sustainable pulp product, has the heft of sturdy cotton
with the feel and sheen of silk.

Copenhagen-based Bruun & Stengade’s designs always convey a bit of dapper urbanity. The pure cotton shirts with micro patterns feature a cutaway collar for subtle-yet-stylish European flair.

Enduring Saint James cotton knits mirror the sea
in two flavors of blue.

Bench is designed with British weather in mind. This windbreaker has a drawstring waist and snap pockets, perfect for our chilly Pacific NW mist and gusts.

Spring Scores at the Momo Good Fortune Sale

“That’s the way the cookie crumbles!” is a good thing when it comes to our Momo semi-annual sale happening for the next two weeks. It’s our way of offering you incredible deals while making room for new goodies ... and, as the proverbial THEY say, “Early bird gets the worm!” But then again, we often randomly mark down new items, so it’s all a fun game of chance, with every one a winner. Here’s how it works:
  • Decide that you need to go home with a SALE item.
  • Bring said SALE item to the counter.
  • Pick a tasty, crunchy fortune cookie out of a jar and open it.
  • Inside is a special fortune giving you an ADDITIONAL 10% - 30% OFF THE SALE PRICE.
  • Eat cookie. Do not eat fortune.
  • Leave feeling stylish and smug for saving money.
Hope to see you at Momo soon!
Prairie Underground’s ‘Leaf Miner’ is sleek yet comfy.

We love the striped details.

The Layering Season

Our lingering summer has faded into fall ... launching the intermediate ‘layering season.’ Fluctuating temperatures (with nights dipping into the 40s while daytime temps hit 70+) mean that we will be shedding and adding clothing multiple times throughout the course of the day.

Momo is here to help ease you into this mutable time of year with many ‘middle-layers’ – pieces that are warm enough to act as an outer layer during the day while being streamlined enough to fit under your coat when the chill sets in.

Here are some of our favorites this week:

Three Stones ‘Reflection’ zip-through sweater has a terrific heft without being bulky. An especially perfect feature for layering is the second zipper, which allows for a a super snug and flattering fit.
Second zipper on the ‘Reflection’ hoodie.

The ‘Portia’ cardigan by eco-chic Skunkfunk is an incredibly soft, retro-collegiate sweater that will pair with a vast array of outfits.

50% merino wool and 50% cotton, our Damask cardigan is both elegant and practical. It even has a generous hood and deep pockets!

For a super-fitted, super-thin yet insulating middle layer, we have this Bench zippered top/jacket. Stretchy and silky, with sporty inset panels around the shoulders, it is hood-free.

We love to play around with clothes and layering ideas. Creative layering is one of Momo Mama Lei Ann’s specialties, actually! Pop in and let us demonstrate the versatility of ‘middle layer’ clothing and how to maximize for comfort and utility.

Just in for the Momo Man

& Sons - updated classics.
New at Momo and in the United States: Toronto-based & Sons, a recently launched shirt maker, purveys timeless wardrobe staples. & Sons’ focus on updated classics will complement anyone's wardrobe. We love the fact that the fine fabrics are designed in-house and produced ethically in small scale mills and sewing facilities.

Lush, textural textiles.
A perennial favorite, Bench, was originally inspired by the skateboarding culture in Manchester, England. The brand has evolved to offer contemporary designs with broad appeal based on functionality and durability, still with a stylist nod to its origins in the streets. Bench outerwear offers the perfect weight and layer options for our NW Fall and Winter weather.

Bench ‘Cardio’ zip-thru layered over & Sons blue checker.

‘Residence’ jacket has four over-sized patch pockets and side slash pockets.
So gents (or discerning partners of gents) – get a jump-start on your Fall fashion with the newest arrivals at Momo. See you soon!

Into the Blue

At the Vegas shows, modeling Saint James! Tom in the “Minquier” jersey shirt in Marine/Ecru while Lei Ann is lovely in the classic cotton knit “Luneray” dress.
Last summer, Mr. Momo and Momo Mama went to Vegas, braving the heat and the crowds to put together a fantastic Spring 2015 collection for you. What is the trend for men this spring? Indigo, marine, navy, midnight and of course blue! Add a dash of grey and charcoal, focus on micro-patterns and florals, emphasize comfort and fit and you have a recipe for the perfect au courant Spring wardrobe.

Here is a teaser for what our gentlemen can look for in the coming days, as modeled by our very own Tom.
