Momo Loves Ewe!

The kinder, gentler Year of the Sheep is an excellent occasion to share affection. The marriage of love and lamb only happens every 12 years, so celebrate with passion.

Or chocolate! Persuasively presented Icelandic OmNom is handcrafted with organic ingredients. Dark Milk + Burned Sugar, 55% cacao, is made with Dominican beans featuring slightly smoky toffee and caramel notes. 70% cacao Papua New Guinea is redolent of nutty leather, tobacco and buttery smooth bourbon.

Lithuanian chocolatier Mulaté, crafts organic bars with a) romantic packaging! and b) luscious flavor combinations (think tahini, cayenne, rich vanilla, cinnamon). From classic extra-dark to sesame seed-studded milk, there’s something to tantalize your sweetie’s taste buds.

Share the art of the heart with tiny dioramas from Portland’s Sparrow and Sundry. Handmade with repurposed wood and illuminated with eco-friendly LEDs, they’ll light up the smile of any lucky recipient.

Speaking of heart-breakingly adorable, Flora and Fawn (aka Momo Girl Angela) created a few special enameled heart pendants if you’re on the search for dainty meets colorful.

And lastly, nothing says je t’aime like a classic Saint James French sailor shirt shirt. Finally, the ever-popular taupe/noir combo has arrived. Practical, durable and eternally stylish — a great gift idea for the Mister on your list. We also received new dresses for women, including striped cap-sleeve and 3/4-sleeves.

We wish your upcoming Valentine’s day and year of the sheep is filled with as much fun as two pink flamingos and love as hot as a Vance Family candle. Our best to Toni Yuly for the sweet sheepy drawing. And to you all, thank you for being a part of Momo. xoxoxo

Enter the Year of the Ram

On February 19, the world will usher in the Lunar New Year of the Ram — the Wood Ram, to be specific. The wooly beast (also known as goat or sheep) is known for his/her creativity, artistic ability and kind-hearted, compassionate ways. 2015 is the year to contemplate your accomplishments and focus on bringing peace and harmony to yourself and those around you.

The Wing Luke Museum kicks off the year this Saturday, February 7 at 11am. Family-friendly fun includes Lion Dances, a visit from KIRO7’s Monique Ming Lanven and activities throughout the day.

On Saturday, February 21 from 11am- 4pm, the entire neighborhood joins in the celebration with cultural activities, parades, a food walk and an arts and crafts pavilion for the kiddos. The main stage will feature Dragon and Lion Dancing, taiko drumming, Bollywood dancing and a costume parade for the little ones.

For treat-seekers there will be more than 30 restaurants participating in the $2 Food Walk (view menu). Grab a passport at the Info Booth,  collect stamps at each destination, and when you have 5 or more, enter a drawing for a chance to win a prize. 1st place receives two international round-trip plane tickets! 2nd place wins two round-trip tickets to a US destination.
And come visit us at Momo! You can meet our handsome new friend (name to be determined – we are open to suggestions!).
I need a name!

Stash & Stow

Is your New Year’s Resolution to be more organized? To whip your satchel into shape, set up a system, lighten your load? Happily, Momo can help. O is also for oh-so-Japanese! Pouches, that is.

New Baggu leather goods in delightfully chipper colors will help you harmonize  items ... or simply put some spring in your step. Clutches and pockets, large and small in buttery soft leather.

Luscious leather in happy happy colors.
Another Baggu classic: nylon shopping bags and zippered travel bags. Weighing virtually nothing, ethically made, machine washable, with a one year guarantee. We have adorable animal prints (including a Ram to celebrate The Year of the Ram) and a smiley face.

Our Ram Baggu holds 50 lbs – the equivalent of two or three plastic grocery bags!
From Danica Studio, linen cosmetic and pencil bags. Their focus on quality textiles embellished with illustration-based graphics make for fun, durable pieces.

Last but not least, the ever-popular Walker mesh pouches made in San Francisco in a variety of sizes. Want to be able to see what’s in your various organizers? Voila, mesh! Washable, see-through and lightweight – there’s a reason that these have a devoted following. Take a peek!

Happy Holidays, Japanese Style

For the Japan-fans on your list, Momo offers a few choice picks, both contemporary and traditional. All feature the Japanese style and quality we appreciate. For starts, add a little zip to a man’s wardrobe with our super-soft sweat jacket.

We’ve got tees to please, too, with bold graphics on back.

And far more elegant than a sweatshirt,
yet equally comfortable is our unisex Nagomi pullover
accessorized here with a tenugui.

For the girls, we’ve got über easy-to-wear pieces like the dramatic Flying Squirrel capelet and quirky number pants (at left) and a hooded fleece tunic (at right). Just pop it over a pair of room pants and relax.

For a nifty little gifty, how about a versatile and 100% cotton eco-chic furoshiki or tenugui? Lala brought these happy textiles back from a recent trip to Osaka.

Carried from Kyoto, pouches made from kimono fabric and obi. Beauty meets practicality in a gift more thoughtful than expensive.
