Cozy Sole Mates

Back in stock just in time for chilling: our unbelievably popular Hamaguri “Room Socks,” designed and crafted in Japan.

Leave it to the Japanese to create the perfect hybrid between a sock and a slipper — extra cushiony for maximum coziness. Why not change into a pair of Hamaguri when you come home? Not only do they cuddle the feet, they help you leave the outdoors outside, and protect the floors from scuffing. Plus, tiny grips on the bottom ensure that no matter how groggy you are in the morning, you’ll be safe from slipping while shuffling to make your first mug of coffee.

Grippy nubbins.

Each pair is sewn individually on specially designed machines, then carefully hand-embroidered with a contrasting triangle pattern around the ankle. Hamaguri translates to ‘clam’ in Japanese, a subtle reference to the stitched finish, said to resemble the mollusk’s shell. With proper care (gentle machine wash, lay flat to dry) a pair will last through many hours of relaxing wear.

Hand-embroidered "clams" add a nice touch.

Momo offers more than a few choices. First, there’s the classic room sock that comes in a rainbow of colors for women, as well as navy, cobalt and charcoal for men. Second, we have two more women’s styles in luxuriously soft blends in an array of subtle shades. Thirdly, for the animal aficionado, we’ve got a selection of kawaii animal motifs. Plus, there’s more in store, we’ll share when you get here.

The Classic room sock. This is just a sampling of the colors available.

Little cuties!

Super comfortable, easy-to-fit, highly likely to please, and gentle on the wallet, room socks make terrific gifts for everyone on your list. They’ll think you're a sock star for giving their feet a cozy treat.

Get Stoned At Momo

The healing powers of stones have been known to many cultures across the world and through the ages. From ancient China to the Egyptians, Romans, Indians and beyond — all believed that stones have magical and mystical properties. Interestingly, the qualities attributed to each stone are fairly consistent across the globe.

In these troubled and often contentious times, we at Momo feel like we can all use a little extra tranquility and positivity in our lives, which is why we’ve chosen to focus on these particular gems in our jewelry collection.

Labradorite is a member of the feldspar family and is best known for its light refracting qualities, which produce shimmery, iridescent flashes of color. These flashes can be so otherworldly and brilliant that the Inuit have a legend stating that the Northern Lights are trapped within.
Labradorite is best known for repelling negativity and aiding in bolstering strength in the face of negativity.

Ruby is considered a useful stone for repelling people who suck your energy, staving off nightmares and insecurity as well as increasing the resilience of the body, mind and spirit. At one point in time, rubies were considered to be more valuable than diamonds. It is said that Kublai Khan once offered an entire city in exchange for a large ruby.

Chrysoprase, with its varying shades of luminous green, experienced a revival (inspired by the discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb and bejeweled ornamentation within) during the Art Nouveau period. It was also reportedly the favorite stone of Alexander the Great. Chrysoprase targets depression and anxiety while promoting hope and joy.

If you’re feeling like you, too, could use a boost in positive energy, Momo has a wide assortment of cheery little gems waiting to adorn you.* (Alternatively, our neighbors up at Trichome can help you with any other stone-y quest — tell ’em Momo sent ya!)

* The fine print: some of these beauties left the shop before this post but Momo Mama decided to run it anyway because it’s so fun, meaningful and informative (thank you, Angela). But there’s always something new and alluring in the stone sector, especially from locally made Little Teal, so please come and check it out when you need a little self love, especially during the holidays!

We only have two of these Me & Arrow dresses left! Soft, drapey fabric in a lovely shade of camel. Momo Girl Alyssa wears hers often! Come fall, you can layer it over a long-sleeve tee and pull on the boots — it’s the color of the season.

Another Me & Arrow catch! Eggshell-colored cotton gauze tank goes with pretty much everything. We also have this in the same camel color as the tent dress.

From Portland designer Bridge and Burn, this sassy, versatile dress can be worn with the V-neck in front or back, or the belt can be tied in the front or back. And ... wait ... it ... has ... pockets!

A simple, neutral zip-back shell from Caara dresses up or down with equal ease. And it goes with black, of course.

For the indigo girl, blue ikat tee via Prairie Underground, available in Small and Medium.

And last but not last (there’s more in store): Wom&Now: a silky tunic adorned with leaves and colorful birds. Also available in sky blue and candy pink.

Confucius say, if you don’t come to Momo to take advantage of our Good Fortune sale:

Uh oh, take heed of cookie! The clock is winding down, but you’ve still got time to pop in and try your luck. Remember, everyone is a winner!

Iced is Nice

Are you ready for this hot summer? Even hotter than the last three? April’s highs reached what Seattle normally averages ... in JULY.

One way to beat the heat is an ice cold beverage. Lots of them (stay hydrated, folks)! A classic cool drink is the beloved iced tea, and Flying Bird Botanicals is our go-to. Their focus is on crafting organic, fair trade, artisanal botanical blends. For a bit of a pick-me-up, try our caffeinated varieties: Village Green and Lavender Orange Grey. For a purely herbal experience, we have Wholesome Cleanse, Twilight Mint (divine with a squeeze of fresh lemon and a mashed strawberry), Dream Catcher and Bluebird Morning.

Caf and de-caf blends.

Add a flourish of mint, citrus and berries.

For a more exotic spin on iced tea, why not try iced chai? Rich, sweet and spicy, Jaipur Avenue’s chais are the best around. Momo’s flavors of the summer include Original Masala, Cardamom, Ginger and the ever-popular Variety Pack. Just add water and ice!

Direct from India!
It goes without saying that you’ll want your iced drinks to be as beautiful as they are refreshing. We currently have a veritable rainbow of Couleur Nature café glasses. Bright, cheery, the perfect accessory to a bracing beverage. Cheers!

Hello Yellow
Orange you glad?

Everybody loves Turquoise

Fittingly Beautiful Nifty Gifties

Are you stymied about what to get ... and for whom ... and where to find ... that special something ... and how to gift wrap it ... in a creative and beautiful way?! Whew! Lucky you ... Momo has got your back with thoughtful gifts that are sure to fit. Take a quick peek at a few candidates for little-to-no-guesswork gifts for the ladies in your life.

Made from 100% yummy cashmere, this Margaret O’Leary travel wrap is an elegant, lightweight (yet warm) layering piece. Measuring 77" x 28" it’s big enough to be worn in a multitude of ways. Versatile and gorgeous? Yes, please!

Sumptuous cashmere wrap, shown in “Hurricane.”
Momo has an assortment of easy-to-wear colors!

The Original Vienna Snow Globes from Austria are the sweetest little holiday treat. Direct from the very first company to make them (circa 1900), these are still constructed entirely by hand in Vienna.

Original snowglobes from Vienna. The tiniest are barely over an inch tall!

Local designer Little Teal’s bullet stud earrings are subdued, stylish and special. Handmade in Seattle, they feature colorful natural stones in sterling silver settings.

Teeny stud earrings with a variety of luminescent stones.

Patrick Cahill is a silversmith based out of Boston, and for the holidays, we’ve put together a collection of his sophisticated cuffs. We love the simplicity of his designs, which feature clean, modern lines and flawless finishes. Entirely fabricated by hand from sterling silver, Pat’s only electrically powered tools are his buffing machine and his flexshaft (picture a Dremel on steroids).

Flawless construction are a hallmark of Pat’s work.

As always, we at Momo are more than happy to gift wrap for you! Our signature wrapping (utilizing vintage papers, found objects and other assorted ephemera) will surely impress your friends and family (especially if you tell them that you did it! We’ll never tell!).

Top it Off in Style

How to keep one’s head warm and dry in a rainy city that eschews umbrellas? Hats! Luckily for you, Momo has a new batch of wool New York Hat Company lids to keep your noggin toasty and rain-free. With four classic unisex styles, we are positive that you’ll find something you’ll love.

First up: super-soft wool berets. Timeless and stylish, one of our favorite hats for year-round wear. Pair one with our Saint James shirts for an ultra-French look. C’est si bon!

Available in red, black, charcoal, burgundy and navy.

Easy to wear and easy to pair, NYHC’s “Thug Cap” is available at Momo in black, sizes Medium – Extra Large.

One our most popular hats is the “Spitfire.” Sport a vintage look that is still relevant and cute! Available in black wool.

Another retro-cool look is the “Pub Cap.” We love how jaunty this hat is. Fully lined and fitted, Momo has this in charcoal, black and a Woolrich plaid.

This is a La Niña winter and we know what that means: rain, rain, and more rain. Pay us a visit soon and we can ensure that your head stays comfy and dry!

Rice is Nice

Tasty treats are awaiting you at Momo! Straight from the tropical paradise of Hawaii come nibble-liscious delights in both the sweet and salty food kingdoms.

Our “Tomoe” rice cracker story will perfectly illustrate how hard Momo Mama Lei Ann works to find the shop truly special items: While visiting her parents in Hawaii, Lei Ann called Momo’s butter mochi mix guy. “Who has the best snacks in town, Butter Mochi Mix Guy?” she asked. He directed her to Taiyo, a snack food warehouse in Honolulu, where she met up with the very nice Lynn. As it turned out, Lynn is the great granddaughter of the founder of the company, which has been passed down through three generations. The “Tomoe” arare brand is named after her grandmother!

Momo Mama brought a suitcase filled with these delicious island-style bites back home to Seattle to share with all of you. We have mini yakko, hearts, sakura, norimaki and a blended mix!

Perfectly crunchy! Salty with a slight hint of sweet.
Momo has also replenished our butter mochi supply. A great dessert for gluten-intolerant folks (both the classic as well as the brownie mix), and is gluten free, addictively yummy and super easy to make.

Mmmochi! Classic Butter and a Brownie mix, too.
Drop by, say hi, pick up some rice-y goodies and get your snack on!
